Jeffrey J. Blatt - Founder of [X] Ventures

[X] Ventures was founded by Jeffrey J. Blatt who has represented Western and Asian clients in all aspects of international technology, intellectual property, media and telecommunications transactions in Asia and the United States. Mr. Blatt has expertise in providing legal and business counsel in the fields of United State intellectual property protection and licensing, drafting U.S. patent applications and prosecuting the same before the U.S. Patent Office, as well as satellite direct-to-home (DTH) pay television broadcasting, telecommunications and mobile technology acquisition. His representation in this area includes defining strategic and business objectives, drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications for Asia based clients, handling contract negotiations through closing and enforcement, and leveraging technology acquisitions and capabilities to create new market opportunities. He has extensive experience in negotiating at a senior level to close international ventures.

Mr. Blatt is a Silicon Valley pioneer applying a holistic combination of legal, technical, and business expertise as General Counsel, Partner and Board Member to create value and to resolve complex business critical matters. He has handled major transactions on behalf of large enterprises and provides leadership and counsel at the highest levels to navigate the intersection between law, technology, data privacy and cyber security for cutting edge technology, media and telecommunications companies. .
Mr. Blatt grew up professionally in the Silicon Valley and Hollywood representing major companies, including Apple, Sun, Intel, Sony Electronics and Oracle, and securing fundamental US and foreign patents for products that included working with Apple's founder on the original Macintosh computer, with Sun Microsystems founders on SPARC workstations and advised Sun on the development and release into the wild of JAVA. In Hollywood he represented studios and special effects companies, including James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment, Apogee and Sony Pictures to secure patent protection for motion picture technology. Subsequently, in Asia Mr. Blatt was the Group General Counsel of one of Asia's largest Direct-To-Home ('DTH') satellite television companies based in Malaysia ("Astro"), and its parent holding company, Usaha Tegas Sdn. Bhd. (“UT Group”), and served on the board for over eight years of Sri Lanka Telecom Plc.


Mr. Blatt is also an internationally respected speaker on the subject of digital data privacy, cybersecurity and lawful government access of enterprise data/risk mitigation. He is a frequent speaker at international cyber security conferences including RSA Asia Pacific and has authored numerous articles on the subject of digital privacy, intellectual property, law enforcement access, government policies, and multinational corporate strategy and technology transfer and procurement in the Pacific Rim.
Mr. Blatt is a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles, School of Engineering and Applied Science (B.S.), and received his Juris Doctor (J.D.), cum laude, in Law from the Lewis and Clark Law School, in Portland, Oregon. He also holds a Masters of Science in Criminal Justice/Intelligence.
