X Ventures was founded by Jeffrey J. Blatt, a Silicon Valley pioneer who applies his legal, technical, and business expertise in a holistic manner to create value and resolve complex business problems for each and every client. His practice includes the securing of U.S patent rights for Asia-based clients, advice on U.S. legal standards and positions, and negotiating U.S. patent and trade secret licensing. His client base includes everything from startup companies to established large enterprises.
Experience and Expertise
Mr. Blatt’s practice originated in Silicon Valley and Hollywood, where he represented well-known major companies like Apple, Oracle, Intel, Sun, and Sony Electronics. His work included helping clients secure U.S. and foreign patents for their cutting-edge product offerings like Apple’s Macintosh computers and Sun Microsystems’ SPARC workstations and the release of JAVA into the wild. His work in Hollywood included representing major studios and special effect companies like Lightstorm Entertainment, Apogee, and Sony Imageworks.
In Asia, Mr. Blatt served as Group General Counsel of one of Asia’s largest Direct-To-Home (‘DTH’) satellite television companies based in Malaysia (“Astro”), and its parent holding company, Usaha Tegas Sdn. Bhd. (UT Group). As part of the Astro Executive Committee, he helped build and launch what is now the largest digital broadcasting pay television satellite and cable business in South East Asia. As Special Counsel to the UT Group, Mr. Blatt also served as a member of the board of directors of Sri Lanka Telecom Plc. for more than eight years. As a board member, he was a driving force behind key cyber security, technology and iPTV initiatives. He also served on the Technology Sub-Committee and was the Chairman of key Board Committees that included the Senior Tender Board and the Risk Management Committee.

Mr. Blatt is a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles, School of Engineering and Applied Science (B.S.), and received his Juris Doctor (J.D.), cum laude, in Law from the Lewis and Clark Law School, in Portland, Oregon. He also holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice/Intelligence.
He is a member of the California Bar, the U.S. Federal Bars and the U.S. Patent Office Bar. Mr. Blatt also holds an FBI certification in cyber investigations and various other U.S. law enforcement certifications from the U.S. government and the state of California.
